Are you looking to add the softness, warmth, and style of carpet to your residential or commercial setting? Be sure to visit FDW Carpet One Floor & Home in Crystal Lake, IL to check out our wide selection. We offer many different residential and commercial carpet options, so we'll surely have a style that fits your every need.
Carpet is one of the most popular flooring options in residential and commercial settings, but there are certain differences between residential and commercial carpets. In residential settings such as homes, style and comfort are most important, but durability does remain a concern. In commercial and other high-traffic settings such as offices, strength and performance are important. So, commercial carpet needs to be strong and stable enough to handle these impacts. We recommend taking a look at carpet tiles because, although they have a real carpet construction, they are built to handle foot traffic. Plus, since carpet tiles are installed like real tiles, they are easy to replace if necessary. You should also consider the different types of carpet fibers and styles, which play a significant role in how your new floor will perform. Carpet fibers may be synthetic or natural and are woven into loop, pattern, frieze, plush, and textured styles. Learn more about these different types of carpet.
Stain-resistant carpeting is a beautiful addition to homes of all sizes. While we don’t recommend using carpeting in the kitchen or bathroom, stain-resistant products can be freely utilized in family rooms, kids’ rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, and more. With each carpet fiber coated to prevent even the toughest stains from taking hold, you’ll worry less and enjoy family life more. Stain-resistant carpeting is available in all of your favorite textures, styles, and colors, so you won’t ever feel like you’re compromising.
Carpet flooring is made to be durable and comfortable. That means you can install carpet in places like living rooms, hallways, as well as bedrooms and home offices. There are carpets made to be stain and wear-resistant, which are perfect for homeowners who have an active lifestyle. We even offer waterproof carpet options that are great for homes with pets, and can even be installed in finished basements. These carpets feature our innovative H20™ technology, which stops moisture at the surface and helps to protect your subfloor. Beyond broadloom carpet, we offer custom-made area rugs for both commercial and residential interiors. You’ll also find carpet remnants when you browse our showroom, which are leftover from larger carpet rolls and are deeply discounted.
We offer two different installation options available: stretch-in and glue-down. Our installers can help you determine which option is the best for your home.
As the name implies, the stretch-in installation method involves actually stretching the carpet across a room. Tackless strips are installed at the ends of the room, and then the carpet is attached to the strips and stretched out until completely flat. Any extra carpet that remains is cut and removed to ensure a perfect fit. The stretch-in method is preferred in homes and other residential areas because it usually results in more softness and comfort underfoot. But, we do not recommend this method in settings with high humidity or heavy foot traffic.
How do you install carpet in heavy traffic areas? We recommend the glue-down method. With this method, the carpet is actually glued to the subfloor with a strong adhesive. As a result, the carpet will be more durable and more stable, so it will remain strong against foot traffic. For some additional comfort, you can certainly choose an appropriate carpet pad. In this case, the pad will be glued down to the subfloor, and then the carpet will be glued down to the pad. Given the extra emphasis on strength and support, the glue-down method is more popular in commercial settings.
As part of our carpet selection, we offer Carpet One exclusive brands such as Tigressá®, Relax, it’s… Lees®, Resista™, Innovia Xtreme Clean™, and Bigelow®. We also offer specialty brands such as Stanton and Kane. We’ll also work with you to handle carpet installation.

Great selection and prices. Ashley couldn't have been more helpful as I narrowed down my search for tile and carpet. The installation team was knowledgeable, neat and quick. I am so happy with my new carpet, tile and the experience I had with Carpet One! - Susan S.
I had two very professional, reliable and efficient installers do my floors and I'd recommend these guys to anyone! FDW pretty much was able to access them last minute to repair a job that another companies installers messed up. A job the company said they could handle but obviously couldn't! Thanks to Elliott, the best install guy around, I'm proud to show off my floors to my friends and family.
- Joe S.
Ashley and Brian were phenomenal to work with! I had a very tight deadline...and she exceeded my expectations!! They were very knowledgeable in helping me pick the right carpet for my project and they even steered me towards a carpet that was on sale. I find really good customer service hard to come by these days...and honestly, this family owned business/ husband and wife team really care about their customers. On top of this...the installers were fantastic. We did a theater room...and the Hollywood stair they suggested is gorgeous!! Thanks Ashley and Team!!! We will be back! - Carrie P.
